Kampong Phluk

Time: 8:30am – 12:30pm or 2:30pm to 7:00pm. Distance 25km.

Kampong Phluk is another floating village which is situated on top of the Tonle Sap. This village is very like the other floating villages where houses sit on top of tall stilts. In some cases, stilts can be many meters high. In the wet season, homes sit just a few inches above water level.

We’ll also get to explore the flooded forest which is full of mangroves and gives an eerie feeling to the trip. Wildlife is abundant in the area and this is a must-see trip for visitors to Siem Reap.

Beng Mealea

Time: 8:30am – 2:00pm. Distance: 77km

Beng Mealea temple is 77km from Siem Reap and takes one and half to two hours to get there. Because of the location of Beng Mealea, it’s rarely visited by tourists. You can escape the large crowds which gather at Angkor Wat and explore this temple in relative peace.

Beng Mealea mostly lays in ruins, but some restoration has been completed on the temple to make it safe for visitors. It was built in the same style and Angkor Wat, but on a much smaller scale. The views of the temple and the surrounding jungles make the journey well worth the trip.
